Based in Mitchell, SD and Rapid City, SD, Abbott House is a champion of youth from across the state of South Dakota and beyond. We believe all youth deserve to have people in their court who are there to help them grow, achieve, and succeed by the time they leave our care.
Mitchell, SD
Operating in Mitchell, SD since 1939, Abbott House provides immense support services for youth in need of help. At the present moment, we operate four Bridges Therapeutic Foster Care Homes in Mitchell, three of which house young women, and one which houses young men. Together, these homes can house up to 24 boys and girls, with an additional 8 spots added for youth to utilize Bridges Independent Living.
Abbott House’s Mitchell Residential Treatment center provides intensive trauma-based recovery services for 45 girls. Here, Abbott House equips youth with the tools and skillset they need to build a foundation of courage, achievement, and harmony to overcome adversity in their lives.

Rapid City, SD
To accommodate the pressing need for therapeutic foster homes across Western South Dakota, Abbott House grew its operations to the community of Rapid City, SD in 2015. Today, Abbott House operates four Bridges Therapeutic Foster Homes in Rapid City, as well as four double bedroom Larson Independent Living Apartments.
